My name is Miss Shaw and I have the great pleasure of teaching Year Three. I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning with the children supported by Mrs Wright and Miss English. Mr Keen  will teach Year Three every Tuesday afternoon.

On this page you will find lots of important information and photographs of the exciting things that we will get up to in class. It will also be updated regularly with class news and links to websites that you may find helpful to support your child's learning. Year 3 is a very important year, full of new challenges, exciting topics and lots of opportunities to grow in independence and confidence. We also have the opportunity to go on a residential visit to Winmarleigh Hall for two nights in April 2026.

Should you have any questions, worries or concerns, please do not hesitate to come in and see me before or after school.

I look forward to working in partnership with you to help your child achieve their best.

School day

Magic Breakfast will be available for the children from 08:35 when our door opens.
Registration will then take place at 08:45.
School ends at 15:15 and the children should be collected from the Year Three door.

The children are encouraged to bring a water bottle in daily.

PE

Year Three will have P.E every Tuesday and Thursday. Children should come to school in the correct PE uniform. Plain white t-shirt/polo, plain black leggings, joggers or shorts, plain black jacket/school jumper (no logos on PE uniform). Children must also take their earrings out to participate in the lesson. If your child is unable to remove their earrings themselves, please ensure this is done before the start of school.

Snacks and Water

Children should bring in a named water bottle daily. Children may bring in a healthy snack and there is the option for them to bring in a small treat on Fridays.

Year 3 Homework Expectations

Spellings

Spellings will be sent out every Friday with a spelling test the following Friday. Weekly spellings will focus on spelling rules and patterns as well as covering the statuatory spellings for Year Three.

We use TTRS to supplement the children's learning in class. Please ensure your child  completes at least 30mins of TTRS maths per week.

Reading books will be changed every Friday. Please read with your child at least 3 times per week and sign their reading diary. Children should bring their reading book and reading record into school every day.
