welcome

Welcome to year 6 - Mr Calderbank and Mrs Williamson

Homework

Children will be expected to work on their reading, maths and spelling 3 times each per week.

Spellings will be given out on Mondays and should be returned by Friday.

In addition to this, as the SATs approach, year 6 children may receive additional homework to help them prepare but this will be after Christmas.

Reading

Reading can be done either through reading a book and getting reading records signed or on Reading Plus.

Reading books can be from home or borrowed from school. As we are preparing your child for high school, it will be their responsibility to return books to school and take out new ones when needed.

If your child does not know their log-in details for Reading Plus or does not have access to a device, please see the class teacher or call/email.

Maths

Maths homework is 30 minutes per week on Doodle maths. Logins have been sent home with children.

If your child does not know their log-in details for Doodle Maths or does not have access to a device, please see the class teacher or call/email.

Spellings

10 spellings will be sent home on Mondays every  weeks linked to the y5-6 spelling list. Please practise these with your child.

PE

PE lesson will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Children may come to school and stay in their PE kit on those days. PE kit is a plain white T-shirt and black/navy shorts. In colder weather children may wear plain dark tracksuit bottoms and top. If you don't have a plain top, school jumpers or cardigans should be worn.

Children will also need to take off any jewellery including earrings so please ensure they are able to do this independently or, if they are not able to, remove them at home.
